Angling Festival
The Killeshandra Coarse Angling Festival (6th -10th May) is a 5 day festival taking place on lakes in the local area.Fishing will take place on Killykeen, Eonish, Lower Derries and Trinity Lakes. The first day will be an open match followed by a 4 day rotation of the 4 lakes. The event will be sponsored by local businesses with the daily draw and presentation night being held in the Lough Bawn Hotel. Entry fee is €120 per person
KILLESHANDRA COARSE ANGLING FESTIVAL DAY 3.
Weights improved on day 3 with Andy Bettison weighing in with 13.400 kg with some bream showing on Killykeen Deeps stretch, on the next peg Keith Murphy was also into bream with a weight of 11.770 kg, meanwhile on Lower Derries Rory O'Neill weighed in with 11.800 to win the lake prize with Kevin Tipton winning his section with 11.200kg. Overall despite the weather weights seem to be improving. With the last day tomorrow half the field are in with a chance of taking one of the top money prizes.
Winner was Keith Murphy from Tempo with a total of 31.88kg, second John Potters, Erne Anglers 25.85kg, third John Jowett Drennan North West 24.84kg, 4th Dickie Carr 23.56kg, 5th Dave Brettle. Keith won over €1000 of a total prize fund of€5.450
Coarse anglers land 40lb bags at Garadice, Killykeen and the Derries

Alice Murtagh from the IFI office in Corelessmore reports that fishing at Church Lake and Haughtons Shore on Garadice is proving to be good with mixed bags up to 40/50lb with some nice Hybrids.
Good mixed bags of fish are being got at the bridge area of Killykeen, some up to 40lb including plenty of Roach.
Good Tench fishing is reported at Little Drumany, Milltown, Drumlane, one angler caught 30 small Tench.
Some Continental and Northern Irish anglers bagged 40lb of fish on the Derries with some nice Roach, Hybrids and Perch.
The Carrigallen area, Glasshouse and Rockfield are giving good mixed bags of fish with some good Hybrids

A total of 39 anglers caught over 2,640 lb of fish caught over the 4 day festival which was fished on Killykeen and Lower Derries resulted in Francis winning with an overall catch of 53.32 kg (117.5lb) second was last years winner Buck Taylor with 50.25 kg, 3rd was Tony Swift with 49.13kg, 4th was Dave Brettle form York with 46.71kg, 5th Kevin Tipton with 45.54kg, 6th Ray O'Sullivan 44.80kg and 7th John Potters with 40.71kg. Total prize money was 5,640 euro with Francis winning a total of 1,060 euro.

Cavan Walking Festival
Don’t miss the 2012 Cavan Walking festival taking place over the May Bank Holiday Weekend 5th – 7th May. The Geopark Gourmet Tour is running once again this year with the chance to discover the wonderful landscapes of the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark, complemented by a sumptuous gourmet lunch in MacNean Restaurant in Blacklion.The tour will leave from Cavan Courthouse at 9.30am on Sunday 20th May before arriving at the Marble Arch Caves for a guided tour from one of our expert cave guides. This will be followed by Sunday Lunch at 12.30pm at MacNean restaurant, home of celebrity chef Neven Maguire, a champion of the fabulous local produce that is found throughout Cavan and Fermanagh and the surrounding counties. The day will be finished off with a tour by one of our highly skilled Geopark Local Guides of the Burren Forest, one of the hidden gems of the Geopark and possibly one of the finest archaeological sites on the island of Ireland. The tour will then return to Cavan Courthouse at approximately 5.30pm

The 53rd ALL IRELAND COARSE ANGLING COMPETITION 2012.
The 2012 All Ireland Competition is being held on lakes around the Killeshandra area over the weekend of 21st & 22nd July.
