Cavan is located in the north midlands. We are located approximately 136 KM from Dublin and 24 KM from Cavan town. Killeshandra is the local village.

For those who are already familiar with County Cavan, you will be very aware that the countryside if full of little lane ways and roads which give you great range to ramble and explore ... or get lost! Bring along a good map if you wish to do some serious exploring and we would have to recommend from fantastic personal experience the Discovery Series of 1:50,000 maps. Sheet 27A places Killashandra next the centre of the map which makes it easy to explore without having to move from map to map.

We have put together some maps which locate our home and facilities within County Cavan and detailed directions from Killeshandra. To make it easy, print down the map and bring it with you before you travel and you'll enjoy the journey too.

If you are travelling from Dublin, take the N3 which runs directly to Cavan town. Along the way you will pass by Navan, Kells, Virginia, and finally Cavan town. We would recommend that you head to Ballinagh and then take the road to Crossdoney. From there follow the road to Killashandra. The journey should take between 2 to 2 ½ hours depending on traffic.

If you are travelling from Belfast, take the A3 to Portadown, Armagh,Middeltown. then follow signs for Monaghan, Clones, Belturbet and then on to Killashandra.

If you would like to stock up on maps before travelling, why not have a look at www.osi.ie National Ordinance Maps Center who provide a full range of maps. If you are using a GPS (such as a Garmin) to assist you in driving to Eonish Lodge simply enter the following coordinates which will take you right to our front door: 54.02012 North, 7.48721 West. If driving from Dublin, we suggest that you drive via Killashandra. Google Maps at maps.google.com provide adequate coverage of the major roads but don't cover the thousands of minor roads and lanes in the area.

Our personal experience is that Microsoft Live Maps at maps.live.com provide super detailed maps of the area! However, Eonish is so good that Microsoft have it listed twice. The more southerly one is the correct one. Have a look at each and make up your own mind. Good maps are also available at www.cavantourism.com
